Classes and student services
There are three different ways of doing online classes so here’s a little bit of help when you are reading your schedule:
Online (ONL)
Online classes do not have specific days or times for participation. Instructors may schedule optional virtual meetings and office hours to support students completing asynchronous work.
Remote (REM)
Remote classes are held online at specific days and times and require students to use online tools (e.g., Zoom) to participate in synchronous work.
Hybrid (HYB)
Hybrid classes use multiple course modalities (either in-person and online, or in-person and remote). The amount of time spent on location varies between courses.
In-person
In-person classes take place at specific meeting days, times and locations.
Need computer or technology access?
Chromebook checkout
Associated Student Government (ASG) has a limited number of Chromebooks for students to check out at no cost for currently registered students. If you are interested in checking out a Chromebook, please complete this form.
Students who already have a Chromebook must also complete the application and be registered for courses each term.
Questions can be directed to asgfrontdesk@clackamas.edu or 503-594-3040.
Computer labs
The Academic Computing Lab in the Dye Learning Center on the Oregon City campus is available for students to work on computers, print and get help from a technology tutor.
Headsets and webcams are available for checkout.
Streeter Quiet Computer Lab in room S137 is a quiet study lab for students to work on computers. The lab has four dedicated computers with web cameras, headsets and are loaded with Zoom.
Questions? Email cougarconnect@clackamas.edu or call 503-594-6632.
Use financial aid
Students receiving federal financial aid can use their refund (after tuition and fees are paid) to purchase a laptop.
Need access to Wi-Fi?
Clackamas Community College has Wi-Fi access in some of our parking lots.
New to online learning?
In many ways, learning online is similar to learning in a classroom. Your instructor will provide quality readings, exercises, assignments and quizzes. Clackamas Community College uses Moodle for its online course delivery. When you sign up for a class, you will get a self-guided Moodle 101 orientation course to prepare you for online learning and make sure you have the skills you need to succeed.
Here are some resources to help you:
- CCC Schedule of Classes
- Are you prepared to take an online class?
- Library Assistive Technology Collection
- Tips for learning online
Get started in online learning
Before you begin, we recommend that you visit online.clackamas.edu to review the answers to these questions:
- How do I find my course?
- How do I learn more about Moodle and online learning?
- Where do I find Moodle help?
- If my class uses Zoom meetings, how do I participate?
Questions about online learning? Call 503-594-6632 or email online@clackamas.edu
Improve your computer skills with Northstar Digital Literacy
Northstar Digital Literacy is a website where you can test your computer skills and learn new skills on your own, at your own pace. The tests are called "assessments." You will learn new skills by completing online tutorials. Northstar is free and anyone can use this tool - students, staff and community members.
Moodle Help Desk Support Available 24/7
Extended Moodle Technical Support is available 24 hours, seven days a week (including weekends)! Three bilingual (English/Español) support options are available: email, phone and chat.
Cougar Connect Tech Help Desk will continue to provide support during business hours.
