Peer Assistant
The Peer Assistant program gives CCC students a chance to earn tuition waivers in exchange for service in a leadership role to an academic or administrative department on campus. Peer assistants provide customer service to a variety of administrative departments.

Peer Assistants receive tuition waiver as compensation for work. Please note waivers cover tuition only (not fees), and can impact (or be impacted by) a student's overall financial aid package. Please contact finaid@clackamas.edu for questions about waiver eligibility/impact.
Peer assistant program opportunities
Peer Assistants serving as student ambassadors will lead campus tours, prepare materials for off-campus recruitment activities, and communicate with prospective students via email, phone and mail. They will represent CCC at college and career fairs and high school visits, host special events, and staff college information booths. Student Ambassadors may also help staff the Admissions Center reception desk, helping new and prospective students navigate the admissions process.

Peer Assistants working with Advising and Career Services will staff both the Advising and Career Center and Welcome desks of the Community Center to provide information to students, staff and community members focused around all student support services that take place in the Community Center. PA’s will be trained to answer a wide range of general questions for multiple academic support areas (i.e. Academic Advising, Career Services and Graduation Services) and help others access services to support their academic careers here at CCC. This position works in a fast-paced customer service environment that frequently communicates with students in-person, via email and phone.
Peer Assistants working in the Disability Resource Center will staff the reception desk there. They will serve as a guide to answer questions for students and community members, while also providing support services to the office staff.

Invite CCC students, staff and faculty to learn more about transportation options; respond to questions about transportation to, from, and between CCC campuses (Oregon City, Harmony and Wilsonville); assemble and deliver information to students and departments; and identify other opportunities for outreach and partnership.
Responsibilities
- Set up and staff tabling/sign up events at CCC campuses.
- Represent CCC in a positive, responsible and professional way.
- Assist with event planning and implementation including developing event ideas, gathering supplies, promoting events via social media and emails, staffing events and helping clean up.
- Coordinate with partners on planning events.
- Help students, staff and faculty access information and resources to try new travel options.
- Help CCC students understand travel choices impact on finances, the environment and health.
- Answer travel related questions, including carpooling, TriMet bus system and bicycling options.
- Maintain good customer service communications in person and via email.
- Develop and maintain interested student email list.
- Advise on effective marketing strategies, communication tone, style, language, etc. to communicate with students.
- Develop and deliver information packets on new transportation options to students and departments.
- Develop and deliver carpool incentives to participating students.
- Assist with evaluation data gathering as needed.
- Data entry and management of spreadsheets to confirm who has received transportation materials.
- Data entry and management of online database to determine, which students are eligible for carpool incentives and track delivery of incentives.
- Act as the liaison with the Associated Student Government to ensure transportation outreach and events are in compliance with CCC and ASG policies.
- Advise on overall campaign to increase effectiveness for communication with students.

- Preferred familiarity with and personal experience using transportation options to and around the CCC campuses.
- Preferred experience working with diverse communities, including communities of color and non-native English speakers.
- Preferred experience teaching and/or conducting public outreach.
Peer Assistants working in the Student Life and Leadership department will staff the welcome desk in the Associated Student Government (ASG) office. They will assist with daily operations, events and special projects within the department, including the Associated Student Government, the Free Food Pantry and the Multicultural Center.

Help Multicultural Center staff and work with fellow student leaders to plan educational and social events for the college community; serve as a resource and advocate for underrepresented students. Hold office hours, plan activities, create and share event fliers and promotions on social media, assist with international student events, and help with set-up and breakdown of multicultural events.
Peer Assistant's will staff the Wacheno Student Services Hub and Welcome Desk to provide direct support to students and guests who need directions, information and referrals throughout the Wacheno Welcome Center and across campus.
In addition to welcoming students and guests, Peer Assistant's will connect visitors to specific service areas (i.e. Financial Aid, Advising, Career Center) as well as other resources available to them. This position works in a fast-paced, customer service oriented environment that frequently communicates with students in person and via email.

Peer Assistant position description
Peer Assistants in the Office of Institutional Research and Reporting will work on data- or survey-related projects.
The specific tasks will depend on the student’s interest and abilities.
Responsibilities may include:
- Surveys and research
- Create infographics for college-wide survey results.
- Help develop IR’s survey program, including developing training/manuals.
- Help with student focus groups and survey promotion.
- Use ChatGPT to summarize research articles and blog posts and review for accuracy.

- Produce maps of the Service District with demographic information.
