• Complete Your Placement Assessment

Math and writing placements must be completed prior to registration for courses or attending a new student advising session.

    Placement steps for new students

    1. Bring the following placement documents (if applicable) to the Oregon City campus Testing and Placement Center. (No appointment necessary) (See below for hours)

    • PASS Intake form - Print and complete
(Copy also available in the Testing and Placement Center)
    • Official photo ID (required)
    • High school transcript (unofficial copy)
    • Previous test scores (Smarter Balance, SAT, ACT, etc.)
    • Previous college credits earned (AP, IB, ACC, other transcripts)

    2. A PASS advisor will meet with you to review the above placement documents and to consider your input and educational goals. The PASS advisor will determine your math and writing placements or decide whether placement tests are necessary to assess skill levels.

    3. Placement tests may be necessary for new students when more information is needed to assess math and writing skill levels. Example: a student who has been out of school more than five years or does not have recent test scores.

Note: Students applying to apprenticeship programs and some limited-enrollment medical programs are required to take placement tests.

Information about Placement Advising for Student Success (PASS)

PASS advisors work with students to guide placement into the highest-level math and writing course in which they are likely to succeed with appropriate support. PASS placements use student input and multiple other measures, rather than a single test score, to promote the student’s choice in determining their best path at Clackamas Community College.
