Apprenticeship programs
Are you ready to start a rewarding career now? Clackamas Community College offers a variety of apprenticeship programs where you can gain valuable skills through paid on-the-job training combined with classroom instruction.
Learn from experienced professionals and earn college credit
Clackamas Community College partners with local Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATCs) to provide you with top-notch instruction from experienced professionals. In a registered apprenticeship, you will receive hands-on training in your chosen trade while earning college credits toward a degree or certificate. This allows you to:
- Develop practical skills. Master the technical skills needed to succeed in your chosen field.
- Gain valuable experience. Get real-world experience working alongside skilled professionals.
- Earn while you learn. Start earning a paycheck while you learn and build your career.
Apprenticeships combine on-the-job training with classroom time. In general, apprentices work full time and attend classes one to two nights per week. The length of apprenticeships can range from two to five years, depending on how long it takes to meet the minimum on-the-job hour requirements for the program.
While taking your apprenticeship classes, you are also working toward an Associate of Applied Science degree. As an apprentice, you can earn your degree from Clackamas Community College with a few additional courses at the college and/or by transferring in credits that you have earned from other institutions.
Build your skills, build your future
Clackamas Community College offers a diverse range of apprenticeship programs to match your interests and goals.
- Construction trades: Become a skilled plumber or painter.
- Electrical trades: Learn the safe and efficient installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems. The electrical trades include inside electrical (high voltage electrical); limited energy and protective signaling (low voltage electrical); limited maintenance electrician; and PGE utilities journeyperson in line, meter and wire.
- Machinist: Gain the skills to diagnose, repair and maintain industrial machinery.
Registered apprenticeship programs are limited entry. You need to apply to the partnering JATC and be accepted as an apprentice in their program before you can take apprenticeship classes through Clackamas Community College. CCC does not have any say over who gets accepted into an apprenticeship program (except for the machinist and LME program) or when the applications open, but we are happy to help answer questions as you are getting started.
